November 2008
NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH. Around the world, hundreds of thousands of people take on the goal of writing a 50,000 word novel between November 1st and November 30th. 2008 was my first attempt, and I was able to complete it in 21 days!

March 2009
NATIONAL NOVEL EDITING MONTH The goal: 50 hours of editing in one month. Sound easy? Guess again! I completed it on the last day of March. By the way, I’m sick of my red pen.

November 2009
NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH is right around the corner. I’m preparing for it now. Would love for others to join me in this addictive event! On day 27, I coasted into the Winner’s circle! Writing this novel has been an incredible experience!

Young Writers Program 2009 (part of NaNoWriMo)

This year, in addition to my own NanoWriMo novel, I have the privilege of helping 25 second graders write their own novels. I will be teaching them the craft of writing a novel during the month of October. On November 1st, each of those students will become a novelist! Each student will have a word count goal of 750 words in 30 days.
Can they do it?
I know they can! In fact, I predict they will go beyond 750 words!
